Tard's Story

Where did she come from?
Tard the Grumpy Cat (short for Tardar Sauce)  is quite an Internet celebrity.  She even recently made an appearance on the NBC’s "Today Show." She is known for being the Internet's grumpiest cat with more than 15 million views! Her hilarious facial features make her look like she is permanently frowning.

She is a mixed breed; but looks to have some Persian, Ragdoll, or Snowshoe in her line.
Still she climbed into our hearts and it's hard not to find her completely adorable.
According to the official website (www.grumpycats.com) which was set up by her owners, Tard's first photo got posted on Reddit in September of 2012.  In disbelief some viewers suggested that it was photoshopped.  In reaction the owners posted a few videos on YouTube to prove that she is actually grumpy and it went viral!

As soon as Tard's image was shared, Redditor got to work on meme creation.  Several variations of Tard's grumpy image can now be found all over the web, featuring different captions in the iconic white Impact font.

You can create your own meme here on www.quickmeme.com

I just love her Grumpiness to bits.  She makes my day, everyday.Tard is actually very friendly and loves to be held and rubbed.  In most of the videos, she seems as playful as any other regular cat. She is also a sweet and magnanimous kitty who is donating a percentage of her merchandise proceeds to animal charities.  Grumpy is also donating a portion of the proceeds of the sale of her wide assortment of T-shirts, mugs, and holiday cards—available on her website, The Daily Grump—to various charities.
There's also other merchandise available all over the web, feeding this latest craze!

Sleeping Senations

Sleeping is any cat's most favourable activities.
Cat's sleep..anywhere.  Cats will sleep on any table, any chair, top of piano, window ledge, in the middle, on the edge...

Your cat looks for a place that feels comfortable and safe and has the right temperature.  Sometimes your face becomes this longed for heat source and no cat can resist not sitting on it.  Waking up to a cat butt in your face is also not very unusual

Nobody is sure why cats sleep so much. Cats evolved from a long line of hunters and predators and their sleep patterns reflect that.  They sleep quite light and can be woken by even the slightest sound or movement.

Cats are most active at daybreak and sundown, explaining all the pestering and wake-up calls.  As sleep champs, felines typically sleep up to 16 hours a day. Because they are most vulnerable during sleep, the place your cat chooses to snooze must be a secure and trusted location. There is no greater loving compliment than a cat choosing your lap for a favourite sleep spot.

Control yourself!

Fighting that urgent desire to immediately pick up stray kittens and start caring for them
This may not be the best thing for you or the kitty cat, here are some guidelines to consider before you choose to take them in:

Socializing and caring for feral cat babies requires a lot of time, devotion and patience. Remember that taking a young kitten from its mama may lead to increased mortality or failure to thrive. Not only does a mother cat supply her babies with good nutritional milk, but she also teaches them how to socialize and behave proper.

If the kitten is older then 4 months it is not advisable to take such a cat into your own home.  These kittens should be neutered, vaccinated and returned to their outdoor home.

If you are unsure of the cat's age always remember this rule of thumb, eight week old kittens look like little versions of full grown cats.

If the kitty is old enough to be removed from it's mother, you also might want to consider the following:

Do you have enough time to care and love for them one-on-one?  You should at least cuddle this sweetie for an hour each day to ensure that the kitty gets used to humans.  By not doing this your feral cat may refuse your loving.

Are you planning to keep the little bugger? Or are you taking it in while you search for adoptive homes?  Surely you are not thinking about giving this ball of fur up for adoption??

Since adoption is not an alternative you would have to think about your other cats.  Are they cool with sharing you with a new kitty?  How will your cats react to this newbie and is there enough space for them to live harmoniously?

It is not a good idea to fall in love with this new kitty and forgetting about your other cats.  Even though every cat is unique you should always love them equally and never have any favourites.
